What CROSSROADS Drug Information Booths Accomplish
CROSSROADS Drug Information Booths are out-of-class activities that give CROSSROADS Peer Educators an opportunity to learn new skills and act as change agents through their interactions with students and school faculty and staff. Kids with Backpacks
  • As they prepare for their DIB exhibits, Peer Educators build skills in planning, teamwork, collaboration, organization, and time management.
  • Before each DIB, they increase their knowledge about drugs by playing the CROSSROADS Drug Trivia Game packaged with each DIB and review the information presented in each drug display.
  • While conducting their DIB exhibits, they use their skills in communication, persuasion and teaching to help them inform and educate others about the consequences of drug use.

But the Drug Information Booths are not all work! During the CROSSROADS trials, many Peer Educators found that they enjoyed these opportunities to interact informally with students outside of class and share information about CROSSROADS and drug prevention. Peer Educators seem to particularly enjoy the CROSSROADS Drug Trivia Games that are played as part of each DIB display. One reason Peer Educators often give for enjoying the games is that they know the information they share through the Trivia Games is factual and can help dispel many of students’ myths and misconceptions about drugs. Best of all, the Trivia Games enable them to address those myths and misconceptions in a fun, non-threatening manner!
